Join your fellow concrete industry peers this fall at the ACI Fall 2009 Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, at the New Orleans Marriott, Nov. 8-12, 2009.

This fall’s convention will feature a Concrete Mixer at Mardi Gras World, a Student Concrete Cube Competition, a student and young member networking event, an honorary dinner for Professor Thomas T.C. Hsu, and a full day dedicated to local contractors.  Additionally, a book drive will be held during the convention in an effort to fight adolescent illiteracy.  ACI attendees are encouraged to bring new or gently used children’s books K-12 to the convention.

Also highlighted at the convention will be a Forum on Sustainability.  This event will take place on Sat., Nov. 7 from 1-5 p.m., and will provide additional knowledge and resources to identify opportunities in ACI committee work and in your career to make necessary changes to design, construct, and specify buildings and infrastructure in more sustainable ways.   In addition to the Forum on Sustainability, several technical sessions and committee meetings will focus on sustainability and green design, and during the International Lunch, featured speaker Khaled Awad, technical manager for Advanced Construction Technology Services, will discuss Building Green in the Desert.

“This event is a must attend, not only to get the latest concrete information and access to leading concrete professionals, but to see that the city of New Orleans is back,” said Bill Rushing, co-chair of the New Orleans convention.  “The city is open for business, ready to welcome visitors from around the world, and show them that we are ready to show them the time of their lives both during and after business hours.  As we say in New Orleans, ‘Laissez les bon temps roulez,’ Let the good Times Roll!”

Convention attendees who register by Oct. 11, 2009 will receive reduced registration rates.  In addition, the New Orleans Marriott is offering convention attendees a special rate for rooms reserved prior to Oct. 9.  Room rates are based on availability.
